A woman in emotional distress.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic approach that taps into the brain's natural ability to heal. It was originally developed to treat trauma and PTSD but has proven effective for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, phobias, and even performance enhancement.

How Does it Work?

In essence, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of guided eye movements. This process allows your mind to integrate these memories in a more adaptive way, reducing their emotional charge and alleviating the associated symptoms.

Is EMDR Right for Me?

If you're struggling with the aftermath of a traumatic experience, anxiety, or persistent distress, EMDR could be the key to unlocking healing and resilience. It's a research-backed and evidence-based approach that has helped countless individuals find relief and reclaim their lives.

Do I Need EMDR Therapy?

If you find yourself haunted by memories, overwhelmed by anxiety, or stuck in patterns that hinder your well-being, EMDR could be the transformative tool you need. I understand that taking the first step toward healing can be challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. Let's work together to bring about positive change and help you reclaim your life!

Here are Six Key Facts About EMDR Therapy.

Let’s Get Real About EMDR Therapy Expectations.

Just know that EMDR, while highly effective, can be an intense experience. I will guide you through the process to make sure you remain feeling safe and stable throughout; however, please know that self-care is a must after an EMDR session. Reprocessing traumatic memories or distressing emotions can be exhausting, and I recommend that clients take extra good care of themselves after an EMDR session.

EMDR is different than traditional talk therapy. You do not have to tell your trauma story to me in any detail. We do not want you to relive the experience. Rather, EMDR uses the natural healing ability of your brain, through bilateral stimulation, to process and integrate these distressing memories or emotions.

EMDR works best when the client is willing to trust the process. It sometimes feels weird for clients at first, but I’ve truly seen rapid healing and change through the EMDR process, both for my clients and myself! If you desire to heal from trauma or deep emotional distress, I recommend giving EMDR a try!
